Das neue Kapitel dieser vielbeachteten Bootleg-Serie präsentiert 47 bislang unveröffentlichte Aufnahmen aus den Aufnahmesessions Dylans in Nashville in den Jahren 1967 bis 1969, u.a. Outtakes der Alben JOHN WESLEY HARDING, NASHVILLE SKYLINE und SELF PORTRAIT, und zusätzlich zahlreiche Aufnahmen aus einer 1969er Studiosession von Bob Dylan und Johnny Cash auf 3 CDs bzw. 3 Vinyl-LPs.

Die CD 1 bietet Alternativ-Takes von Songs der Alben JOHN WESLEY HARDING (Nashville Sessions 17. Oktober und 6. November 1967) und NASHVILLE SKYLINE (Sessions 13. und 14. Februar 1969) und präsentiert mit dem Song WESTERN ROAD einen bislang völlig unbekannten Song aus den Sessions zu diesem Album. CDs 2 und 3 des Sets konzentrieren sich auf die Zusammenarbeit Dylans mit Johnny Cash und beinhalten die sagenumwobenen Aufnahmesessions der beiden Ikonen im Columbia Studio A in Nashville. Zusätzlich bieten diese CDs auch Aufnahmen von Dylan und Johnny Cash, die anläßlich der ABC TV-Show THE JOHNNY CASH SHOW am 1. Mai 1969 im Ryman Auditorium aufgezeichnet wurden, sowie die Aufnahmen Dylans mit der Bluegrass-Banjo-Legende Earl Scruggs für dessen PBS TV Special EARL SCRUGGS: HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. Die Liner Notes für diese wie immer mit ausführlichen, bebilderten Booklets ausgestatteten Editionen der Bootleg Series stammen diesmal vom bekannten Musik-Historiker Colin Escott sowie von Johnny-Cash-Tochter und Musikerin Rosanne Cash.
