Über 50 Jahre ist es nun schon her, dass die Rolling Stones ein BBC-TV-Special planten, das wie eine Zirkusshow aufgezogen werden sollte. Nun wird das Spektakel „Rock And Roll Circus“ erneut auf 3LP, 2CD, DVD und Blu-Ray veröffentlicht.
Im Norden Londons mietete die Band im Dezember 1968 ein Studio, lud Live-Publikum und befreundete Künstler*innen wie The Who, Jethro Tull, Marianne Faithfull oder Yoko Ono ein und ließ den „Rock And Roll Circus“ einziehen. Regie führte Michael Lindsay-Hogg, im Zentrum der Show standen die Originalmitglieder der Rolling Stones: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts und Bill Wyman, der von Nicky Hopkins und Rocky Dijon unterstützt wird.
